Religious leader Uttam Swami Maharaj expressed anger from the stage saying “Don’t even connect the Chief Minister virtually. If someone doesn’t have two hours for us we don’t need such a person.” His remarks created a stir among followers. However Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla and Revenue Minister Karan Singh Verma attended the event along with many devotees. The festival celebrated traditional rituals and devotional performances over three days. Lokayukta Raid at Former PWD Chief Engineer’s House The Lokayukta team conducted a major raid at the residence of former PWD (Public Works Department) Chief Engineer G.P. Mehra in Bhopal’s Manipuram area on Thursday morning. The raid was carried out in connection with corruption allegations related to government contracts and construction works during his tenure. Officials said Mehra is suspected of financial irregularities and misuse of power. The Lokayukta team along with police searched his house for several hours and seized important files property documents and cash details. The investigation aims to trace the flow of illegal money and identify other officials involved in the scam. Syrup Company Director Arrested Govindan Ranganathan the director of Shree Sun Pharma has been arrested by the SIT team formed by the Madhya Pradesh government. His company manufactured the Coldrif cough syrup which is suspected to have caused multiple child deaths in Chhindwara district. The SIT team arrested him from Chennai on Wednesday night after tracking him for several days. Officials also seized important company records medicine samples and production documents. Ranganathan was carrying a ₹20000 reward on his arrest. The investigation is focused on determining whether the syrup contained harmful chemicals and if there were violations of drug safety regulations during production. Hearing on 27% OBC Quota Postponed Again The Supreme Court has once again postponed the hearing in the case related to the 27% OBC reservation introduced by the former Kamal Nath-led government in Madhya Pradesh. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta appeared before the court and requested more time saying that the issue involves several technical and legal aspects that require detailed examination. The court has now scheduled the next hearing for the first week of November. The case has been pending for months and the delay has raised concerns among OBC groups in the state. The reservation policy aims to expand opportunities for backward communities. ₹9 Crore Government Property Registered Under Private Names A major property fraud has been exposed in Chhatarpur where a PWD (Public Works Department) building worth ₹9 crore was illegally registered under private names. One of the names linked to the registry reportedly belongs to a person connected with Bageshwar Dham’s travel coordinator. The matter came to light during a land records audit. Collector Parth Sarathi has ordered an inquiry and directed Executive Engineer Bharti Arya to lead the investigation. A three-member committee including ADM Milind Nagdeve Tehsildar Piyush Dixit and Registrar G.P. Singh will look into how the government property was transferred to private ownership. Diwali to Be Celebrated on October 20 There was confusion this year about the correct date of Diwali because the Amavasya tithi falls on two consecutive days. However astrologers from Varanasi Ujjain and Bhopal have confirmed that Diwali should be celebrated on Monday October 20. They explained that Amavasya will end before sunset on October 21 so that day will not be suitable for Lakshmi Puja. Therefore the main celebration and worship should take place on October 20 evening. Ujjain’s Mahakal Temple and several other major shrines will also celebrate Diwali on the same date. People have started preparing for decorations and festive shopping. Warm Days Cool Nights in Madhya Pradesh Weather conditions in Madhya Pradesh are gradually changing as the monsoon season is coming to an end. The Meteorological Department said that within two to three days the monsoon will completely withdraw from the state. Days will now remain sunny and warm while nights will bring a mild chill marking the arrival of early winter. Some areas in eastern Madhya Pradesh may experience light drizzle over the next three days but no rainfall was recorded anywhere in the state on Wednesday.
