Bhopal Metro to begin service in Oct The city’s first metro service is set to launch in October with Prime Minister Narendra Modi expected to inaugurate it. The Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety will inspect tracks and trains from September 24–26. Travel will be free for the first week followed by discounts for three months before standard fares of ₹20–₹80. The first phase covers six kilometers from Subhash Nagar to AIIMS aiming to ease city traffic. Authorities say the metro will provide a fast safe and eco-friendly commuting option. Indore to burn Shoorpanakha effigy on Dussehra For the first time an effigy of Shoorpanakha sister of Ravana will be burnt during Dussehra in Indore. The initiative is led by a local group “Paurush” and craftsman Kalu Bhaiya is creating the figure alongside traditional Ravana effigies. Organizers say the event will send a new social message and attract larger crowds. Designs are being made carefully respecting the female character. Residents expressed curiosity and excitement about the change. The Dussehra celebration will blend tradition with a new twist. Computer Baba launches cow protection drive Computer Baba accompanied by saints began a cow protection campaign in Gwalior urging donations and a ban on meat sales during Navratri. He called cows “Rajmata” and demanded strict closure of slaughterhouses. Baba also opposed non-Hindus entering Garba pandals calling the festival exclusively Hindu. A major protest is planned in Bhopal on October 14 to press for full cow protection.
