However several grooms were seen in jeans and T-shirts and many brides wore salwar suits. The ceremony is meant to help poor and needy families. Congress Questions Land Deal Linked to CM Congress leaders on Wednesday raised questions over a land-related issue involving Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav. At a press conference in New Delhi Congress MP Pawan Khera and state Congress chief Jitu Patwari alleged that the land deal was carried out with political support and demanded an investigation by a sitting Supreme Court judge. Patwari claimed that a trust named Veer Bharat Nyas in Ujjain received government land worth nearly ₹500 crore for a token amount of just ₹1. He said the trust’s trustee Shriram Tiwari is a cultural advisor to the Chief Minister. Patwari asked on what basis such valuable land was allotted to the trust and called for greater transparency. The BJP has not yet given a detailed response to these allegations. The issue has become a major topic in Madhya Pradesh politics. CM Attends Rani Durgavati Memorial Event Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav visited Jabalpur on Wednesday to attend the martyrdom day program of Queen Rani Durgavati. He offered prayers at her memorial site and paid floral tribute to her statue. BJP state president Hemant Khandelwal and minister Rakesh Singh were also present. The Chief Minister said a grand memorial worth ₹100 crore is being built in Jabalpur. It will include a 52-foot-tall statue of Rani Durgavati. The project’s foundation stone was laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in October 2023 and is expected to be completed soon. Expired Food Items Seized at NDPS School After more than 150 students fell ill at Shishukunj School in Indore district authorities launched inspections of school kitchens mess facilities and food storage areas across the city. On Wednesday teams from the administration and food safety department found several violations during their checks. At Guru Harkishan Public School officials discovered that the school did not have a valid food license and some food items in the kitchen had expired. The kitchen was ordered to close immediately. During an inspection at New Digambar Public School (NDPS) expired sauce cooking oil and other food products were also found. Food safety officers seized the expired items and began legal action. Authorities said the inspections are aimed at protecting students health and ensuring food safety standards are followed in schools. Sajjan Verma Attacks BJP Over Temple Management Congress leader Sajjan Singh Verma criticized the BJP on Wednesday. He alleged that temples have become centers of corruption under BJP rule. Verma said temple management and financial activities need greater transparency. He also made remarks about temple trust officials and questioned the handling of donations. His comments came during a political discussion and have sparked reactions from different groups. BJP leaders are expected to respond to the allegations. Taxi Fares Rise Sharply in Bhopal Taxi fares in Bhopal have increased significantly especially for airport rides. The minimum fare has gone up from around ₹50-60 to ₹120-150. This is the first major fare hike in nearly ten years. Taxi driver unions had been demanding higher rates and ride-hailing companies agreed to the changes. Airport trips that earlier cost about ₹220 are now around ₹280. Premium rides have also become more expensive. Ola and Rapido are expected to implement similar increases soon. Passengers may now have to pay much more for daily travel. Illegal MD Drug Factory Busted in Mandsaur Police in Mandsaur uncovered an illegal synthetic drug factory operating in a farmhouse area near Bazkhedi village. During the raid officers seized 13.85 kilograms of MD drugs and more than 9 kilograms of chemicals used for manufacturing. Equipment used in drug production was also recovered from the site. The operation was carried out as part of a campaign against illegal narcotics. Police are investigating who was involved and where the drugs were being supplied. Authorities called it a major success in the fight against synthetic drug trafficking. Monsoon Finally Arrives in Madhya Pradesh The southwest monsoon officially entered Madhya Pradesh on Wednesday nine days later than usual. The India Meteorological Department confirmed its arrival. The monsoon reached the state through districts including Balaghat Dindori Anuppur Seoni Chhindwara Betul Harda Khandwa Burhanpur Khargone and Barwani. Rainfall is expected to increase in many areas over the coming days. Farmers and residents welcomed the development after a delayed start to the rainy season. Weather officials expect the monsoon to advance further across the state soon.
