Ladli Behna and Ladli Laxmi Schemes Get 5-Year Extension Madhya Pradesh government has decided to continue the Ladli Behna and Ladli Laxmi schemes for the next five years. The decision was taken in the cabinet meeting on Tuesday. The government will spend ₹114365 crore on the Ladli Behna scheme and ₹16326 crore on the Ladli Laxmi scheme. The cabinet also approved 18 proposals including 35 new posts in the Madhya Pradesh Road Development Corporation. Seven already-approved posts will also continue for five more years after September 19 2026. The Prime Minister’s Matru Vandana Yojana was also approved for 2026-27 to 2030-31 with 60% funding from the Centre and 40% from the state. ‘Gen Alpha Protest’ Hits Bhopal for the First Time Bhopal witnessed its first ‘Gen Alpha Protest’ on Tuesday over an education-related issue. Around 300 to 400 students of Regional School came out on the streets to oppose a proposal to merge the school with the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan or KVS. The students carried posters with messages like ‘Save DMS’. They submitted a memorandum to Regional College Principal Professor S.K. Gupta and strongly opposed the proposed merger. The students also warned that they would start a phased protest if their demands were not accepted. The protest attracted attention as school students came together to raise their concerns about the future of their institution. Bhopal Hosts Sant Ravidas Social Harmony Conference A major social harmony conference was held in Bhopal on Tuesday to mark the 650th birth anniversary of Sant Ravidas Maharaj. The ‘Sant Ravidas Social Harmony Resolution Conference’ was organised at Ravindra Bhavan. Before the conference a grand Kalash Yatra was taken out from the ancient Sant Ravidas Temple in Barkheda. Saints devotees women’s groups bands drums horses and camels joined the procession. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav BJP state president Hemant Khandelwal and MLA Pradeep Laria attended the event. CM Yadav said that promoting social harmony is a major responsibility especially in times when society faces challenges from caste-based divisions. Bhopal Traders Block Road Against Sealing Action Traders in Bhopal staged a road blockade at Roshanpura Square on Tuesday to protest against action on commercial activities. The protest continued for around one hour and 45 minutes. A large number of traders including many women sat on the road and raised slogans. Traders said businesses have been operating in residential areas for many years. They claimed sudden sealing action could affect shopkeepers employees and families dependent on these businesses. They demanded the early implementation of Bhopal’s master plan and a mixed land-use policy. They also demanded a law to regularise unauthorised development in Bhopal similar to Gujarat’s 2022 policy. 1040 Government Jobs Announced in Madhya Pradesh Good news for job seekers in Madhya Pradesh. The state government has announced recruitment for 1040 Group-3 posts. The vacancies include posts such as sub-engineer draftsman and laboratory technician. Eligible candidates can apply online from August 18 to September 1. The recruitment examination will begin from October 6. According to the Employees Selection Board the application fee is ₹500 for general category candidates. Candidates from OBC EWS SC ST and disabled categories will pay ₹250 per question paper. The age limit is 18 to 40 years. Eligible reserved categories will get an additional five-year relaxation in the upper age limit. Four Lucknow Pilgrims Drown in Narmada One Dies A tragic incident took place at Omkareshwar in Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday. Four pilgrims from Lucknow entered deep water while taking a bath at Kevalram Ghat on the Narmada River. The incident happened during their visit to the religious town. Boatmen Home Guards and SDERF personnel immediately started a rescue operation. Three people were safely pulled out of the river. However one young man could not be saved and died. The incident has once again raised concerns about safety at crowded river ghats. Authorities have urged visitors to remain careful and avoid entering deep water especially during the monsoon season. Bargi Dam Full 9 Gates Opened for First Time This Year The Bargi Dam in Jabalpur district has reached a high water level forcing authorities to open nine gates on Tuesday. This is the first time in 2026 that nine of the dam’s 21 gates have been opened. Although Jabalpur received less rain than normal heavy rainfall in nearby Mandla and Dindori districts increased the water level. The dam recorded a water level of 420.80 metres at 8 PM on August 17. Nine gates were opened around 11 AM on August 18. The dam’s useful water storage is currently around 84.08 percent. Authorities have issued an alert for Narmada river ghats and nearby areas.
