- Government and CJP Hold Fresh Talks as Protest Enters Day 35 The Cockroach Janata Party or CJP continued its protest in New Delhi for the 35th day on Friday. Thousands of supporters gathered near Parliament. The government and CJP are scheduled to hold fresh talks today at the Constitution Club. Their first meeting on July 20 ended without any agreement. CJP leader Abhijeet Dipke said the protest will continue until Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan resigns. Late Thursday night some protesters broke police barricades on Parliament Street. Security has been increased and 17 Delhi Metro stations remain closed. Meanwhile Sonam Wangchuk ended his 27-day hunger strike after senior ministers offered him juice at Medanta Hospital. ---- Kharge Demands PMs Statement in Parliament Opposition parties continued their protest in Parliament over the NEET paper leak and demanded the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Opposition MPs staged a protest outside the Makar Dwar and raised slogans against the government. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge said Prime Minister Narendra Modi should make a statement in Parliament. He said only then would the opposition accept the governments stand. Amid the uproar both Houses of Parliament were adjourned till 12 noon. The BJP has issued a whip asking all NDA MPs to remain present in Parliament. A Union Cabinet meeting is also scheduled later in the day. ----- Rahul Gandhi Leads Opposition March Over Paper Leak Issue Congress leader Rahul Gandhi led a march with opposition parties in New Delhi on Thursday evening. The march was organized to protest against the paper leak issue and the alleged police action on students taking part in demonstrations. The march began near Rahul Gandhi’s residence and moved towards Gandhi Smriti. Several opposition leaders joined the protest including members of Shiv Sena (UBT) NCP (SP) Trinamool Congress JMM RJD Left parties Samajwadi Party and IUML. The opposition leaders demanded justice for students and called for stronger action against those responsible for exam paper leaks. The issue continues to create political debate across the country. ----- Sonam Wangchuk Ends 27-Day Hunger Strike After Written Govt Assurance Social activist Sonam Wangchuk has ended his 27-day hunger strike over the NEET paper leak issue. He broke his fast late on Thursday at Medanta Hospital in Gurugram. Union Ministers J.P. Nadda and Jitendra Singh visited him and Mr. Nadda offered him a glass of juice to end the fast. In a video message released on Friday Wangchuk said the government gave written assurance on three important demands after two days of discussions. The government promised that no police cases would be filed against protesting students. It also agreed to hold a discussion in Parliament on the paper leak and the examination system and to provide proper compensation to the families of students who died by suicide. However Wangchuk said the written assurance does not include the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. ------- Trump Says US Ready for Biggest Strike on Iran Tensions Rise Tensions between the United States and Iran have increased once again. US President Donald Trump has said that America is fully prepared to launch its biggest military strike on Iran. He said all preparations have been completed and only the final decision is yet to be made. Trump also claimed that Iran has not suffered enough and warned that stronger action is possible. In response Iran strongly rejected the warning and said any American attack would bring serious consequences. Iranian officials said the United States would have to pay a heavy price for such action. The situation has raised fresh concerns about peace and stability in the Middle East. ------ US Imposes 10% Extra Tariff on Indian Imports The United States has announced a 10% extra tariff on goods imported from India. The new rule came into effect on Friday. The decision was made under the direction of President Donald Trump. The US Trade Representative said the action targets goods linked to forced labour. In total 60 countries are affected. India is among 17 countries facing a 10% extra tariff. Another 43 countries face a 12.5% tariff. The action has been taken under Section 301 of the US Trade Act of 1974. Countries like the UK Canada Pakistan Bangladesh Sri Lanka Indonesia and Mexico are also included. ------- Markets Fall Sharp Sensex Drops 700 Points Indian stock markets opened lower on Thursday as investors remained cautious. The Sensex fell around 700 points to 75613 in early trade. The Nifty also dropped nearly 200 points and slipped to 23646. Market experts say rising global uncertainty and higher crude oil prices are putting pressure on investors. Crude oil has crossed the 100-dollar-per-barrel mark raising concerns about inflation and higher import costs for India. Most sectors traded in the red during the opening session with selling seen in banking IT and energy stocks. Investors are closely watching global markets and oil prices for further direction. ------ India Shines at Commonwealth Games Opening Ceremony The 2026 Commonwealth Games officially began in Glasgow Scotland with a colorful opening ceremony. Olympic medalists Mirabai Chanu and Lovlina Borgohain proudly carried the Indian flag and led the 125-member Indian team during the march-past. King Charles and Queen Camilla formally opened the Games welcoming athletes from 74 countries. India also made a strong start in competition. In lawn bowls Putul Sonowal defeated world champion Ryan Bester of Canada. In women’s doubles Roopa Rani Tirkey and Pinky won their opening match. Meanwhile boxer Lovlina Borgohain has already secured at least a bronze medal by reaching the semifinals. ------ Rivers Overflow as Monsoon Rain Hits Many States Heavy monsoon rain continues across India. In Gujarat many districts are facing flood-like conditions after very heavy rainfall. Low-lying areas are under water and an alert has been issued in 11 districts. In Uttar Pradesh the Ganga Yamuna and eight other rivers are flowing above normal levels after 10 days of continuous rain. A rain alert is in place for 54 districts. In Bihar 19 districts are under a heavy rain warning. Four people died after lightning strikes in Aurangabad and Buxar. Rajasthan has also issued a heavy rain alert for 11 districts.
