The final voter list has been released in Uttar Pradesh after the Special Intensive Revision (SIR). Chief Electoral Officer Navdeep Rinwa announced that around 2.05 crore voters’ names have been removed. Earlier the draft list had nearly 2.89 crore deletions. At the same time about 84 lakh new voters have been added. The total number of voters in the state now stands at 13.39 crore. Officials say the revision aims to make the voter list more accurate and updated. The move is important ahead of upcoming elections in the state.
