On Wednesday Congress leaders staged a long protest near Ghirouli village and blocked the road for two hours. Later around 4:30 PM the administration allowed Congress leaders Jitu Patwari Omkar Markam Kamleshwar Patel Jayvardhan Singh and Neha Kaware to visit the forest area under full police monitoring. After returning Patwari said that around 10000 acres of hills forest and land were destroyed and handed over to Adani without any official permission. The matter has triggered strong political reactions in the state. Jabalpur and Gwalior to Be Declared Metropolitan Areas Soon Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav during a review meeting of the Public Works Department announced steps to speed up infrastructure development. He said Jabalpur and Gwalior will soon be declared metropolitan regions to improve regional connectivity. He directed officials to increase highway density in and around metropolitan zones so that road networks can match national standards. The CM also asked for an integrated urban development policy that equally benefits rural urban and industrial zones. Congress Stages Protest at Minister Pratima Bagri’s Bungalow In Bhopal on Wednesday morning Youth Congress workers protested outside the official residence of Minister of State for Urban Administration Pratima Bagri. The protest was held after her brother a BJP leader from Satna was arrested in a ganja smuggling case. Led by Amit Khatri workers broke police barricades and blackened the minister’s nameplate. They demanded her resignation and raised slogans against the government. Police increased security around the bungalow to avoid any untoward incident. Congress leaders said the minister must take responsibility and step down immediately. Home Minister Shah Includes Arif Masood’s Name in List The Winter Session of Parliament continued to witness heated arguments over the Vande Mataram debate. On Tuesday Union Home Minister Amit Shah placed a list in the Rajya Sabha containing names of opposition leaders who objected to the national song. Congress MLA from Bhopal Central Arif Masood was also included in the list. After the list became public Masood clarified that he never opposed the song. He said he only mentioned that he would personally not be able to sing it due to personal beliefs and that saying so should not be considered wrong or disrespectful. Speaking at a press conference Yadav accused spiritual leader Dhirendra Shastri of being an agent of the BJP. He said Shastri visited Bihar before elections and now travels to Kolkata claiming these political-type visits violate constitutional norms. Yadav said this is a fight between Mandal and Kamandal ideologies and his party will ensure such “misuse of faith and politics” does not go unchecked. A farm labourer kidnapped a 6-year-old girl who was playing in the fields and dragged her into nearby bushes. After raping her he brutally inserted a rod into her private parts leaving her severely injured. The accused originally from Alirajpur in Madhya Pradesh tried to flee but was arrested within hours. Police booked him under severe charges and will seek seven-day remand in court. The incident has caused outrage across the region. Cold Wave Alert for Two Days in Madhya Pradesh Madhya Pradesh will face a strong cold wave for the next two days according to weather officials. Cities including Bhopal Indore Vidisha Rajgarh Shajapur and Sehore will see a sharp drop in temperature.
