The Congress hopes the yatra will help them connect with people before the upcoming elections. 31 Dead in Vaishno Devi Landslide A landslide at the Vaishno Devi shrine in Katra Jammu has killed 31 people. The incident happened on Tuesday around 3 PM on the old route near the Ardhkumari temple. Earlier 7 deaths were confirmed but the number rose by Wednesday morning. Rescue teams are working at the site. Heavy rain is believed to be the reason for the landslide. Officials are warning pilgrims to stay safe and avoid risky routes. The shrine board said they are giving support to the victims families. The yatra may be stopped for some time due to safety concerns. Justice Nagarathna Opposes New SC Judge Nomination Supreme Court judge BV Nagarathna has strongly opposed the nomination of Justice Vipul Pancholi to the Supreme Court. The decision was made by the SC collegium (judges group). Justice Nagarathna said this could harm the judiciary. If appointed Justice Pancholi could become Chief Justice of India in 2031. She believes his record is not suitable for such a high post. This is rare as such objections are not common. The matter has caused debate in legal circles. Army Officer Banned for 5 Years After Airport Fight An army officer who hit four SpiceJet staff at Srinagar Airport has been banned from flying for 5 years. The DGCA (India’s flight authority) put him on the “No Fly List.” This means he cannot fly on any Indian or international airline during this time. The fight happened after a flight issue.
