Student questions CM on lack of debate over sexual harassment At a mock parliament in Bhopal a female student confronted Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav saying that the government discusses issues like “Developed India” and “Emergency” but avoids vital topics like sexual harassment. She claimed that such matters are often silenced and punishment is rare. The student demanded that sexual harassment be openly debated in forums like mock parliament. The CM was present but did not offer an immediate response. CM to distribute ₹238cr worth laptops to meritorious students On Friday Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav will distribute laptops to over 94000 meritorious students under the “Pratibhashali Vidyarthi Protsahan Yojana.” A total of ₹238 crore has been allocated for the initiative. The event will take place at the Kushabhau Thakre Convention Center. The scheme aims to bridge the digital divide and empower talented youth across Madhya Pradesh with better access to education. Cong calls BJP a digital trap govt In a press conference in Bhopal Congress spokesperson Mithun Ahirwar accused the BJP government of pushing the state into a “digital trap” not Digital India. He blamed the government for unchecked fake loan apps online gambling and cyber fraud leading to suicides. Ahirwar questioned the CM over the DGP’s controversial remark that “police can’t stop rapes alone” and called new BJP president Hemant Khandelwal a “dummy.” Congress demanded strong cyber laws and swift action against digital crimes. Indore metro ridership plummets in first month Indore Metro completed one month of commercial operations on its 5.9-km priority corridor but daily ridership has fallen drastically. From over 25000 passengers a day initially the number has now dropped below 500. In response from June 23 officials cut service hours to 10 AM–6 PM and reduced frequency to one train per hour. Earlier trains ran from 8 AM–8 PM every 15 minutes. Weekend ridership barely crosses 1000. Passenger concerns and operational costs have prompted a review of the entire metro model. Tiger reserve entry fees hiked by 10% from Oct 1 Visiting Madhya Pradesh’s national parks and tiger reserves will get costlier starting October 1 2025. The state government has announced a 10% hike in entry fees with foreign tourists paying double. Weekday entry will rise from ₹2400 to ₹2640 per vehicle and weekend fees from ₹3000 to ₹3300. This excludes Gypsy rental which ranges from ₹2000–₹3500. The increase aligns with a 2024 rule mandating a 10% fee hike every three years. All parks are currently closed due to the monsoon and breeding season. 2.7 lakh applications for anganwadi posts The Women and Child Development Department received a staggering 270152 applications for 19504 anganwadi worker and assistant posts. Out of these over 55000 applied for worker positions and more than 2.14 lakh for assistant roles. The recruitment is being conducted online across all 10 divisions of Madhya Pradesh. The overwhelming response shows the scale of unemployment and demand for grassroots government jobs in the state. 350 saplings planted at Sehore police lines As part of the “Greenery Festival” Sehore Police launched a plantation drive on Thursday. Led by SP Deepak Kumar Shukla officers planted 350 saplings including neem mango guava shisham and jamun. The initiative supported by DB-CPL Devasa-Bhopal Corridor Pvt. Ltd. aims to promote environmental awareness and sustainability. Senior officers pledged their support and the campaign will continue across the district until July 7. Heavy rains flood Mandla villages home guards deployed Torrential rains lashed several districts of Madhya Pradesh on Thursday flooding multiple villages in the Bichhiya region of Mandla. Home Guard personnel have been deployed to assist residents and manage the situation. The state remains under continuous monsoon activity raising concerns of more flooding in low-lying areas. Waterfalls roar back to life Monsoon rains have revived some of Madhya Pradesh’s most breathtaking waterfalls. In Rewa a 650-foot cascade has resumed flowing attracting visitors in droves. In Ratlam a waterfall now reaches the Kedareswar Mahadev temple creating a spiritual and scenic blend. Shivpuri’s Bhadaiya Kund is roaring again with a 70-foot drop while Indore’s Patalpani waterfall began flowing two weeks ago. Smaller falls in Chhatarpur and Mauganj are also active.
