By-Elections Announced in Four States Voting on October 6 The Election Commission has announced by-elections for assembly seats in Tamil Nadu Puducherry and West Bengal along with one Lok Sabha seat in Assam. Voting for all these seats will take place on October 6 2026. The results will be announced on October 9. According to the Election Commission the official election notification will be issued on September 9. The last date for filing nominations is September 16. Voting will be held on October 6 followed by counting on October 9. The entire election process will be completed before October 11. ------- PM Modi Meets Gen-Z Youth in Gujarat Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Gen-Z youth in Vadodara Gujarat on Tuesday. He reached the young people by walking on a special ramp during the ‘Namo for Developed India’ programme. The stage was designed with a new theme with a Y-shaped ramp surrounded by young people. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis was also present at the event. PM Modi also inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for projects worth around Rs 35200 crore. After Vadodara PM Modi will visit Navsari to open a BJP office. He will then travel to Surat before leaving for Mumbai. ------ Telangana Speaker Breaks Down in Assembly Telangana Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad became emotional and broke down in tears inside the House on Tuesday. The incident happened after Minister Seethakka criticised MLC Tata Madhu for making alleged insulting remarks about the Speaker’s late mother. Speaking about the incident Prasad said the remarks were deeply hurtful. He also said Seethakka has been tying a rakhi to him for the last five years. Prasad said he felt very sad when he saw tears in Seethakka’s eyes during the Assembly proceedings. He said he could not control his emotions and tears came from his eyes too. -------- Delhi Orders Inspection of All Buildings After PG Tragedy After the building collapse in Delhi’s Satya Niketan area the Municipal Corporation of Delhi has ordered an inspection of buildings across the capital. The MCD has asked executive engineers from all zones to inspect buildings in their areas. They have been directed to submit their reports by September 10. The move comes after the recent PG building tragedy in Delhi which raised questions about building safety. Officials will check the condition of buildings and identify structures that may pose a risk. The inspection is aimed at preventing similar accidents and improving safety in the capital. ------ BRICS Nations Plan Digital Currency Trade System BRICS countries are preparing to use digital currencies for cross-border trade. India is working on a pilot project to connect the digital currencies of BRICS nations. China and Russia are expected to join the trial. The main aim is to reduce dependence on the US dollar and allow countries to make direct payments in their own currencies. India’s digital rupee China’s digital yuan and Russia’s digital ruble could be linked through a common payment system. No new common BRICS currency is planned. ------- Trump Warns Canada: Build Bombardier Planes in US or Lose Market US President Donald Trump has threatened to stop Canadian aircraft maker Bombardier from selling planes in the United States. Trump said Bombardier must build its aircraft in the US if it wants access to the American market. He accused Canada of taking unfair advantage of the US market. Trump made the remarks as Canada has imposed retaliatory tariffs on around 20 billion dollars worth of US goods. In a post on Truth Social Trump said the US should not be treated like a “piggy bank.” He stressed that companies wanting to do business in America should also manufacture there. ----- Pakistan Flag at Cardiff Castle Sparks Controversy in UK A controversy has erupted in Wales after a Pakistan flag was seen flying at Cardiff Castle a historic landmark in the United Kingdom. The right-wing Reform Party has opposed the display. Senior Reform leader Robert Jenrick shared a video of the Pakistan flag flying at the castle on social media. He questioned why foreign flags were being displayed on historic buildings. Jenrick said such flags should not be flown at important historical sites.
