The Madhya Pradesh Cabinet led by Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has approved the Kavach Scheme to provide relief to nearly 5000 farmers linked with cooperative societies. The decision was taken at the Cabinet meeting held on Tuesday. The scheme is meant for farmers whose loan accounts have irregularities and are stuck because of delayed investigations. As a result many of them have been unable to receive the benefits of government welfare schemes. Under the new plan these farmers will be brought back into the system and will become eligible for fresh loans. To support the scheme the Apex Bank and District Cooperative Banks will create a fund of up to 50 crore rupees. The state government will also provide a one-time financial support of 25 crore rupees. The government said the scheme will protect farmers improve access to credit and ensure that eligible farmers receive the benefits of welfare programmes without unnecessary delays.
