Umesh Joga Appointed Transport Commissioner The Madhya Pradesh Home Department has issued transfer orders for 14 IPS officers. Under this reshuffle Balaghat Range IG Sanjay Kumar has been appointed as the new Police Commissioner of Bhopal. The current Police Commissioner Harinarayan Chari Mishra has been posted as IG at the State Crime Records Bureau in the Police Headquarters. Meanwhile Ujjain Range ADG Umesh Joga has been appointed as the new Transport Commissioner. His services have been transferred to the Transport Department. The government says the changes were made to improve administrative efficiency and strengthen law enforcement in the state. Minister Vijay Shah’s Remark Sparks Controversy During a public event in Khandwa Minister Vijay Shah made a sarcastic remark about the media. He said that media persons are jealous of him. When the Dean of the Medical College reminded him about an old announcement the minister joked that the “postman was called after six years.” His statement quickly became a topic of discussion in political and media circles. Opposition leaders criticized the remark calling it inappropriate for a public representative. Media organizations also reacted strongly saying such comments harm democratic values and press freedom. OBC Reservation Case Hearing on February 4 The Supreme Court expressed strong displeasure over the Madhya Pradesh government’s absence during the hearing of the 27 percent OBC reservation cases. When the matters were called no lawyer appeared on behalf of the state government. The court termed it a serious lapse and recorded its displeasure. Later on the request of lawyers representing the OBC community the Supreme Court fixed the next hearing for February 4 2026. The issue is very important for thousands of students and job aspirants in the state as it directly affects recruitment and admissions. CM to Inaugurate State-Level Flower Show Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav will inaugurate the state-level flower exhibition on Friday at 3 pm. The event will be held at the Government Rose Garden in Bhopal. The exhibition is being organized under Farmer Welfare Year 2026. It is jointly conducted by the Horticulture and Food Processing Department and the Madhya Pradesh Rose Society. The main aim of the exhibition is to promote flower cultivation and horticulture among farmers. Many varieties of flowers will be displayed and farmers will get information about modern techniques and market opportunities. SC Seeks Time Extension in Suicide Case Probe In the high-profile Nilesh Adivasi suicide case from Sagar district the Special Investigation Team has sought more time from the Supreme Court. The SIT was formed on the Supreme Court’s order dated December 11 2025 following a petition by BJP leader Govind Singh Rajput from Malthaun. The Madhya Pradesh government has filed an application requesting an extension of time till March 15 2026 to complete the investigation. The case has drawn wide attention due to its political and social sensitivity. Husband Killed Over Reels Dispute A shocking incident has been reported from Thandla police station area in Jhabua district. A minor wife allegedly killed her husband Kailash after a dispute over making social media reels. Police said the woman strangled her husband while he was sleeping using his wedding turban. The post-mortem report confirmed death due to strangulation. During investigation police found that the accused had planned the murder after watching videos on YouTube. The police arrested the minor within 24 hours of the incident. The case has raised concerns over social media influence. Cold and Dense Fog Affect Normal Life After the end of rain and hailstorm activity cold weather and dense fog have intensified across Madhya Pradesh. On Thursday morning thick fog covered most parts of the state. In many districts sunlight was not visible until 10 am. Moderate to dense fog was reported in more than 20 districts including Bhopal and Gwalior. Due to low visibility road and rail traffic were affected causing inconvenience to people. The Meteorological Department has advised citizens to remain cautious while driving and to follow safety guidelines during foggy conditions. ---
