INS Mahe Joins Indian Navy: India’s New “Silent Hunter” India’s naval power received a major boost on Monday as the indigenously built warship INS Mahe officially joined the Indian Navy earning the title of “Silent Hunter” for its ability to quietly track enemy submarines. The first ship of the Mahe-class INS Mahe is specially designed for shallow waters where larger warships struggle making it ideal for coastal defence and sensitive maritime zones. Built under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative the ship is 80% made with Indian materials showcasing the country’s growing defence capability. Its commissioning ceremony took place at the Naval Dockyard in Mumbai where Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi the chief guest emphasized the power of joint military operations and praised India’s rapid progress in defence technology. Equipped to move silently while detecting enemy submarines INS Mahe can also patrol coastlines secure maritime routes conduct underwater surveillance perform search-and-rescue missions and even lay sea mines when required. Fast modern and multi-role this new warship—built by Cochin Shipyard Limited—marks a significant leap in India’s maritime strength making the Navy stronger smarter and better prepared to protect the nation both above and below the sea.
