350 Sugam Buses to Start in MP from September 25 The Madhya Pradesh government will launch the Chief Minister Sugam Bus Transport Scheme on September 25. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari will flag off 350 buses from Bhopal. The buses will be operated through agreements with private bus operators. The government aims to start 1000 buses across the state by March 2027. Electric buses will be given priority under the scheme. MSME Minister Chaitanya Kashyap said the Transport Department presented the plan during a cabinet meeting. He said passenger transport monitoring had not been properly done for around 20 years. The new system will focus on better passenger facilities and safety. BJP MLA Demands Ban on Non-Hindus at Garba Events Madhya Pradesh BJP MLA Usha Thakur has demanded a ban on the entry of non-Hindus at Garba events during Navratri. Thakur said that every year around 4.5 lakh Hindu girls leave with people from other religions and that they give birth to around nine lakh children the following year. She made the statement while speaking informally to the media on Tuesday. However she did not provide any official data or source to support the claim. Her remarks have come amid continued political statements in Madhya Pradesh over the participation of non-Hindus in Garba events during the Navratri festival. Govt Can Release Draft of Bhopal Master Plan The Supreme Court held a hearing of around three hours on Tuesday over commercial activities and sealing action in residential areas of Bhopal. The court expressed concern over lapses in the sealing process and said commercial activities should not be allowed in residential areas. It also said that sealing and demolition action should continue where required. However the court said it would not interfere in areas where land use is unclear or where mixed land use exists. Action will continue in places clearly marked for residential use. Officials have also been given directions after the court observed that its instructions were not being followed at several places in Bhopal. AYUSH Intern Doctors Protest in Bhopal More than 100 AYUSH intern doctors protested at the Bhopal Collectorate on Tuesday. The doctors reached the Collectorate around noon and held a protest demanding an increase in their monthly stipend. The protest comes after MBBS intern doctors also raised similar demands. The AYUSH interns said they are currently receiving a monthly stipend of 9383 rupees. According to the protesting doctors this is among the lowest stipends in the country and is the lowest compared to 15 states. They have demanded that the government increase the stipend and provide better financial support to interns during their training period. School Education Department to Give 587 Compassionate Jobs The Madhya Pradesh School Education Department has started action on pending cases of compassionate appointments. The move comes ahead of a review of such cases by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav. The department called all district education officers to collect information about pending cases. It then directed officials to issue appointment orders for 587 Assistant Grade Three posts. By Tuesday evening appointment orders had already been issued for more than 400 posts. These appointments are being made on compassionate grounds. The vacancies have become available after promotions. The government is now working to clear pending compassionate appointment cases across the state. Nigerian Woman Arrested with Drugs in Indore The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence or DRI has arrested a Nigerian woman in Indore in a drug trafficking case. More than 1.4 kilograms of suspected narcotic substance was recovered from her belongings. According to the DRI the estimated illegal market value of the seized drugs is around 1.19 crore rupees. The action was carried out on September 21 in the Vijay Udyog Nagar area of Indore. The woman was reportedly caught near the Teen Imli Square area at the Purple Bus travel agency before she could board a bus. The DRI is investigating the source and intended destination of the drugs. Congress MLA Ghanshyam Singh’s Membership Challenged The assembly seat in Datia is once again in the news after a petition was filed against Congress MLA Ghanshyam Singh. The petition challenges his election and alleges that he did not disclose information about a criminal case from 1991 in his election affidavit. The petition was filed in the High Court by BJP leader and advocate Deepak Belpatri through advocate Shivam Gautam. It was filed on September 17. The case has brought the Datia assembly seat back into focus after the by-election. Further proceedings will determine the legal issues raised in the petition and the allegations related to the election affidavit. Heavy Rain Alert for 33 Districts in Madhya Pradesh Madhya Pradesh is expected to receive heavy rainfall from September 23. According to the India Meteorological Department or IMD strong weather activity is likely on September 24 and 25. During these two days 17 districts may receive heavy or very heavy rainfall. Bhopal and the Narmadapuram divisions are also expected to be affected. Rain has already been reported in several parts of the state. The weather system is likely to remain active for the next few days. Authorities and residents in areas under the rain alert are being advised to remain cautious especially in places that may experience waterlogging or strong weather conditions.
