Protest Outside Kailash Vijayvargiyas Residence Over Student Protest Remarks A couple staged a protest outside the Indore residence of Madhya Pradesh Urban Development Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya on Wednesday. Holding copies of the Constitution they stood at the entrance and said they were hurt by the ministers recent remarks. Police reached the spot and asked if they had permission to protest. When the couple refused to leave they were taken into custody. They were identified as social activists Prahlad Pandey and Sangeeta Pandey. Prahlad claimed the minister described the student protest as sponsored and used insulting words for students. Police are questioning the couple. The matter has triggered political reactions. Health Officer Faces Action Over Social Media Video A Community Health Officer in Dhar district is facing action after posting a political video on social media. Kiran Bhatia posted at Kakadwa village shared a video supporting the student protest at Jantar Mantar and Sonam Wangchuk while criticizing the BJP and the Modi government. The video was reportedly recorded inside a government office. BJP leaders objected to the post and demanded action. Taking the matter seriously the Chief Medical and Health Officer has written to the National Health Mission Director recommending that Kiran Bhatia be removed from service. An official decision is awaited. BJP Protests Against Congress in Bhopal BJP leaders and workers held a protest at Red Cross Square in Bhopal on Wednesday against Congress leader Rahul Gandhis protest in Delhi. One participant came dressed as a clown and wore a poster with a slogan criticizing Rahul Gandhi. The protest was led by BJP State President Hemant Khandelwal. After demonstrating for about ten minutes the workers left the area. Speaking to the media Khandelwal said the protest was only a warning. He added that if Congress does not change its approach the BJP will organize stronger protests in the future. Congress MLAs Wear Black Bands in Assembly Congress MLAs attended the Madhya Pradesh Assembly wearing black bands on Wednesday. They were protesting against the reported assault on students at Jantar Mantar in Delhi and the arrest of Congress leaders. Leader of Opposition Umang Singhar led the protest. The opposition demanded a discussion through an adjournment motion but permission was not granted. Congress members raised slogans inside the House creating a noisy scene. Due to the uproar Assembly proceedings were suspended for 15 minutes. The issue became one of the major political developments during the third day of the Monsoon Session. High Court Gives Relief to BJP MLA Sanjay Pathak The Madhya Pradesh High Court has given relief to BJP MLA Sanjay Pathak in a criminal contempt case. Pathak who represents Vijayraghavgarh in Katni district had made a phone call and sent messages to Justice Vishal Mishra. A division bench led by Acting Chief Justice Vivek Rusia accepted his unconditional apology. The court warned him not to repeat such actions in the future. It also observed that the incident did not affect the judicial process. With this order the contempt proceedings against the BJP MLA have come to an end. Sumitra Mahajan Criticizes Western Railway Former Lok Sabha Speaker and former Indore MP Sumitra Mahajan has criticized Western Railway in a letter that has gone viral on social media. In the letter she expressed disappointment over the railways treatment of Indore. She wrote that it appears Western Railway has treated the city like an orphan by delaying new train services and ignoring important proposals. The letter dated July 20 was addressed to railway official Ramashray Pandey. After the letter surfaced Congress criticized the BJP government and local MPs saying the issue shows the neglect of Indores railway development. Heavy Rain Continues Across Madhya Pradesh Monsoon remains active across Madhya Pradesh bringing heavy rainfall to many districts. During the last 24 hours more than 35 districts received rain. Narmadapuram recorded the highest rainfall at 4.2 inches. The India Meteorological Department has warned of heavy to very heavy rainfall in several districts over the next 24 to 48 hours. People living in low-lying areas have been advised to stay alert and avoid flooded roads. Local authorities are monitoring the situation and are ready to respond if needed. Rain is expected to continue in many parts of the state.
