- PM Modi Hoists Tricolour at Red Fort Prime Minister Narendra Modi hoisted the Tricolour at the Red Fort for the 13th time on Independence Day. His traditional turban was also a major attraction. This year PM Modi wore a bright dark-red Rajasthani turban with yellow and white Bandhani patterns. His special look quickly caught attention during the celebrations. Every year PM Modi’s Independence Day outfit becomes a talking point. He then addressed the nation from the Red Fort. The Prime Minister spoke about India’s progress national security and the country’s future. He also highlighted the role of young people in building a strong and developed India. ------- Vande Mataram Sung at Red Fort for First Time For the first time Vande Mataram was sung at the Red Fort during the Independence Day celebrations. Prime Minister Narendra Modi hoisted the national flag before addressing the nation. He delivered a 76-minute speech from the historic Red Fort. After the flag was hoisted the national anthem was played and a 21-gun salute was given. During his speech PM Modi also spoke about what he called “ideological Naxals”. He said armed Naxalism has weakened but some people are still trying to mislead society. He asked people to identify such elements and keep them away from society. ------ PM Modi Picks Up Girl’s Fallen Cap After his Independence Day speech Prime Minister Narendra Modi met children at the Red Fort. The children looked excited and happy to see him. During the interaction a little girl bent down to touch PM Modi’s feet. As she bent down her cap fell onto the ground. PM Modi immediately noticed it. He picked up the cap from the ground and gently placed it back on the girl’s head. The warm moment caught attention during the Independence Day celebrations. PM Modi then continued meeting the children. His simple gesture showed his friendly and caring interaction with the young children present at the Red Fort. ------ The Lok Sabha has sent a notice to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. The notice was issued after complaints by BJP MPs Anurag Thakur and Sanjay Jaiswal. They objected to Rahul Gandhi’s remarks during a discussion on the Anti-Paper Leak Bill. The BJP MPs said some of his words against Home Minister Amit Shah were unparliamentary. Rahul Gandhi made the remarks during the discussion on July 29. He used words like “idiot” and “blind follower”. Speaker Om Birla later ordered that these words be removed from the House records. Rahul Gandhi has now been asked to submit his reply by August 28. -
